I know I've already written about OUaT here before. I don't care.
Let me just reiterate:
OH MY GOD RUMPLESTILTSKIN/MR. GOLD IS THE BEST CHARACTER OF ALL TIME.
Seriously, there is some insanely great use of a character actor happening up in there. How many instances can you think of (in mainstream TV/movies, not out on SyFy or some fantasy channel and obviously Tyrion Lannister notwithstanding, though really that was a book first, and THIS PARENTHETICAL ASIDE IS FAR TOO LONG NOW) where a character-actor-type role gets really fleshed out? This is something that's becoming more popular, I think, and it's a much-loved change in my view. I mean, think how great The Princess Bride is; now imagine a version where you really understand where Fezzik is coming from.
Anyway, my point is, what a great character. Oh my goodness. Such a good character.
Also, I love most characters on this show. I kind of think the protagonist, ironically, is the most naive (ironically because she is a bounty hunter) and I am conflicted about her. More or less everyone else I find excellent.
Also, if you are a person who enjoys 'shipping shows, BE ALL ABOUT PRINCE CHARMING AND SNOW WHITE AS REGULAR-TOWN PEOPLE. OH MY GOD. OH. MY. GOD.
Mainly because I love Ginnifer Goodwin, and I want her to get one non-awful relationship. Even though he's married. WHATEVER GUYS LOVE IS COMPLICATED SOMETIMES.
So, basically, this show has great characters. I think it's a show that you really have to commit to, because it's got a LOT of story to follow. Don't enter this lightly.
